FAQs

FAQ – Dr. Divya DPT

1. What conditions do you treat?

I work with strength athletes, active adults, and anyone looking to overcome pain, mobility restrictions, or performance plateaus. Common issues include low back pain, neck pain, shoulder injuries, hip/knee pain, ankle/foot issues, tendon problems, overuse injuries, and mobility limitations.
(See full list under Common Injuries Treated.)

2. Do I need a referral or prescription for physical therapy?

No. Texas allows direct access, meaning you can work with me without a physician's referral for up to 30 days. If your condition requires additional medical evaluation, I will guide you through next steps. If you are planning to use HSA,FSA or submit for out of network reimbursement with insurance, you should plan to get a referral especially if you require more than 30 days of PT care. PERFORMANCE COACHING DOES NOT REQUIRE A REFERRAL. We can determine if you are a better fit for performance coaching or physical therapy at your evaluation.

3. What is the difference between physical therapy and performance coaching?

Physical Therapy focuses on injury rehab, pain reduction, restoring mobility, and strategic loading to return you to full function.
Performance Coaching focuses on fitness goals, strength development, body recomposition (including nutrition, mindset, lifestyle management), and long-term performance—often after rehab or for injury prevention.

4. What is hybrid rehab?

Hybrid rehab combines in-person sessions with virtual check-ins, personalized programming, and ongoing communication. It provides the personalization of in-person treatment with the flexibility and guidance of virtual support.

5. What are Revitalize sessions?

Revitalize sessions are 30-minute manual therapy appointments that may include joint mobilization, soft tissue work, cupping, scraping, dry needling (if appropriate), and mobility restoration. They’re perfect for recovery, tune-ups, and maintaining high performance.

6. Do you offer dry needling, cupping, and scraping as standalone services?

Yes. Manual therapy sessions can be booked individually or as part of an ongoing plan of care.

7. Do you take insurance?

I am a cash-based practice and do not contract with insurance companies. This allows me to provide longer 1:1 sessions, individualized care, and treatment plans based solely on your needs—not what insurance allows. I work for my clients, not for insurance companies.

If needed, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance.

8. What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, Credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and online payments.

9. How long are appointments?

  • Initial evaluations: ~60 - 90 minutes

  • Follow-up rehab sessions: 45–60 minutes

  • Revitalize sessions: 30 minutes

10. What should I expect at my first appointment?

A full evaluation including:

  • Movement assessment

  • Strength + mobility testing

  • Injury & medical/surgical history review

  • Hands-on treatment as needed

  • A clear plan for your recovery and performance goals

11. What should I wear to my session?

Comfortable athletic clothing that allows you to move freely and exposes the area being treated.

12. Do you provide home exercise programs?

Yes. I call them prescribed exercise programs (PEP) though. because they are meant to be taken with you everywhere: while you travel, to your gym, not just basic stretches to do at home. The PEP is the meat and potatoes of rehab. The daily work that is done to help you become the active adult you dream of being. Every client receives a personalized program with video demonstrations, progressions, and adjustments based on your response and goals.

13. Can you work with me if I don’t live in Lubbock?

Yes! I offer virtual evaluations, virtual rehab, and performance coaching. Many clients work with me fully online.

Lubbock is the hub city after all and if you live in one of the surrounding areas, you can absolutely start with an in person evaluation and easily become a virtual rehab or virtual performance coaching client.

14. When should I choose virtual rehab vs. in-person?

Choose virtual if you:

  • Want flexibility

  • Prefer coaching, accountability, or remote assessments

  • Aren’t local to Lubbock

Choose in-person if you:

  • Need hands-on treatment

  • Prefer in-clinic assessments or manual therapy

  • Want LIVE deeper movement/lifting analysis on-site

Hybrid is ideal for most active adults.

15. How do I book an appointment?

Booking is done with me directly. You can fill out the contact form, text me, email me to set up a phone consultation. This is how I make sure you are a good fit for my rehab and performance model. From there, I will help you set up the evaluation.

16. What is your cancellation policy?

Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee, as your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you.

17. Do you work with athletes in prep (NPC/IFBB)?

Yes—this is one of my specialties. I work with competitors year-round and during prep to manage injuries, improve posing mobility, and optimize training without losing progress.

18. Can beginners or non-athletes work with you?

Absolutely. You do NOT need to be a competitor or advanced lifter. I work with anyone passionate about improving their health, mobility, and strength.

19. What ages do you work with?

I work with adults 18 and up

20. How quickly can I expect results?

This is a tough question to answer when you see such a wide variety of adults and injuries! I typically come up with a timeframe during your evaluation, but do emphasize that results are based on MANY factors (so it could take shorter or longer than what I initially expect). For very minor injuries and pain, some individuals will start to notice relief in 1-2 sessions. For chronic pain and recurrent injuries that require extensive lifestyle modifications, relief may take 3-4 weeks to be noticeable.
